Disney is looking into allegations from French artist Hachim Bahous that art he did for a series of albums in 2015 was ripped off for Solo: A Star Wars Story posters.
Bahous made the claim over the weekend via a Facebook post that was set to public, but was changed to private on Monday morning. The Hollywood Reporter got a screenshot before the page was changed, which shows Solo artwork next to Bahous’ album covers.
“I am flattered that the quality of my work is recognized, but it is still pure and simple forgery, I have not been asked for my permission, I wish to be credited and paid for this work I have done for Sony!” Bahous wrote.
The artist claims that the posters resemble work he did for album covers back in 2015 for Sony Recordings France/Legacy Records France. The albums collected classic songs from artists of various musical genres.
“The posters were created by an outside vendor and it’s something we are currently looking into,” a spokesman for Disney told THR.
