Candace Payne is the ‘Chewbacca mom’ who went viral after she was recorded laughing herself to tears wearing a mask of the Star Wars wookie.
And now, thanks to a department store, she doesn’t have to share.
The video of the mum of two was shared online last week as she collapsed into fits of laughter trying on a Chewbacca mask she treated herself to as a birthday present.
With 135 million views, it’s Facebook Live’s top clip ever – and it’s still being watched across the world.
So it makes sense that Kohl’s department store, where the Grand Prairie, Texas resident bought her own mask would do something special.
The shop has brought the Payne clan a whole host of Star Wars toys – including Chewbacca masks for the little ones.
The mask has sold out across the US since Candace uploaded her video on May 19.
“We don’t want you to stress about sharing your Chewbacca mask, so we ‘confinscated’ masks for everyone,” the Kohl’s representative said, referring to Payne’s joke about her pronunciation in the video.
She was also given around £1,730 in gift cards and 10,000 loyalty points on the Kohl’s reward scheme.
With her trademark laugh, Candace was clearly thrilled with the gesture, and took to Facebook later to give Kohl’s her thanks.
“One of the most incredible parts of today?” she said. “Watching my kids FLIP out!”
Candace has been thrilled by the popularity of her four-minute clip which she posted with the caption “It’s the simple joys in life”.
She posted on her Facebook account on Saturday: “OVERWHELMED with gratitude. Let’s keep belly laughing again and again.
“Never imagined finding my ‘simple joy’ would land me more VIEWS on a little FB video than Mark Zuckerberg has followers. INSANE. Find your “simple joy”!
