‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ – Game To Be Free On EA Access By December

Via Gamenguide.com:

EA Access, Electronic Arts’ very own exclusive game service alongside Origin, has certain titles that are always free to play in their EA Access Vault so long as you have a membership to it. If you’re a “Star Wars” fan, good news: “Star Wars: Battlefront” will be added to the Vault by the end of this year.

This is good news for anyone who still hasn’t bought “Star Wars: Battlefront” just yet when it first came out last year, but it won’t do for anyone who already has the game and all its expansion DLCs already. The base game will become free, but if you don’t own the expansions yet, then you’ll have to buy each of them separately. If you do cancel your subscription to EA Access, you’ll still be able to pick up where you left off as long as you have your own copy of the game.

This move to make “Star Wars: Battlefront” free on EA Access might be because the studio is due for “Star Wars: Battlefront 2” soon, perhaps as early as next year. There’s at least one more expansion DLC for “Star Wars: Battlefront” on the docket, one which allows you to play as characters from the upcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” such as rebel protagonist Jyn Erso.

The upcoming Scarif DLC for “Star Wars: Battlefront” is rumored to come out around the same time the movie releases this December in a cross-promotional move. It’s also rumored to be featuring a tropical planet, a first in the whole “Star Wars” franchise.

As for other games on EA Access, “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst” and “EA Sports UFC 2” is also going to be made free on the service, according to Games Radar. This is alongside some old PopCap games as well, including “Bejeweled 2” and “Bejeweled 3.” As for more news on “Star Wars: Battlefront” and its sequel, we’ll update you with more information as we get them.
