The “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” making-of documentary will have its world premiere at South by Southwest.
Festival-goers will be able to see “Secrets of ‘The Force Awakens’: A Cinematic Journey” on March 14 at the film, TV, music and interactive media festival in Austin. The feature-length documentary explores how the cast and crew brought the most anticipated movie in decades to life, and features exclusive footage and interviews with the actors and filmmakers. The premiere will also include a Q&A with visual effects supervisor Roger Guyett, supervising sound editor Matthew Wood and co-producer Michelle Rejwan.
For those not attending the show, the making-of documentary will be available on digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on April 1, and through the Blu-ray combo pack and DVD on April 5. Other bonus features include a peek at the creation of BB-8, exclusive table read footage and a look back at John Williams’ work on the series.
SXSW will also mark the premieres of “Pee-wee’s Big Holiday,” Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s catnapping comedy “Keanu,” and Seth Rogen’s AMC series “Preacher.” President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to deliver keynote speeches, along with J.J. Abrams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kerry Washington, Ellen Page, Don Cheadle, Joel Edgerton and others.
SXSW runs from March 11-20.
