Thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens record-shattering performance, Harrison Ford was able to unseat Samuel L. Jackson from this throne to once again become the highest grossing actor of all time at the domestic box office.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Harrison Ford was the highest-grossing movie actor of all time, but in 2005 he was surpassed by Samuel L. Jackson, who has held that title for 11 years. Funny enough, one of the major reasons Jackson was able to climb past Ford was his involvement in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels.
According to Box Office Mojo, The forty-one films that Ford has been featured in have grossed $4.699 billion at the North American box office. The Force Awakens makes up $764.4 million of that total. As for Jackson, his sixty-eight films have pulled in $4.626 billion at the U.S. box office. $623.4 million of that figure comes from Marvel’s The Avengers.
