JUST HOW FAST IS THE MILLENNIUM FALCON? THE CO-AUTHOR OF DK’S NEW FACT-FILLED BOOK DISCUSSES UNLEARNING WHAT HE HAD LEARNED.
Writing a book called Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know is a daunting task, no matter what the theme might be! I’m part of the “vintage” Star Wars generation, so I’ve been watching the saga my entire life. Nevertheless, I learn a lot every time I work on a new Star Wars book. When you write reference books, you learn to see things in new ways and notice all the little details. No matter how many times I watch Star Wars, there are so many little details I may overlook — droids in the background of a scene, how many credits a bounty hunter is being paid for a job, a Jedi’s midi-chlorian count, how many Sha’rellian toops sit atop Mama the Hutt’s head, which docking bay Han Solo uses in Mos Eisley, or proper greetings in Huttese! Fortunately I had three other accomplished writers — Cole Horton, Michael Kogge, and Kerrie Dougherty — to help me in this task.
Our book focuses on the characters, creatures, locations, and ships of Star Wars, but along the way, we cover everything in-between. We delve deep into the obscure facts and trivia of Star Wars, all displayed within a jungle-gym of fun and often humorous text, photos, diagrams, hidden gems, Easter Eggs, and oddities. If you love numerical trivia, foreign language phrasebooks, comparative charts of alien livestock, lists of obscure Ewok paraphernalia, perusing the edible delights you might find inside a Hutt’s tummy, digging for hidden lifeforms inside a clone’s nostril, or just amazing your friends with endless trivia to both delight and overwhelm, then this is the book for you!
