Via Omaha.com:
A short time from now at a theater near, nearby …
Alamo Drafthouse Omaha will bring the Death Star to metro-area moviegoers.
The eight-screen theater, restaurant and taproom opening soon at 12750 Westport Parkway in La Vista unveiled its “Star Wars”-themed lobby Sunday, which features a specially made 10-foot-wide Death Star and other items from a galaxy far, far away. Far-ish, anyway: Kansas.
The “Star Wars” items were made by the Kansas City design firm Dimensional Innovations and will be a permanent fixture of the theater’s lobby.
“This has been in the plans since we first started building Drafthouse,” said Derek Michael Dillon, creative manager for Alamo Drafthouse Omaha. “It actually timed out perfectly, unveiling the Death Star before ‘The Force Awakens’ tickets go on sale.”
Tickets for the highly anticipated “Star Wars” sequel will go on sale at theaters across the country today, including Alamo. The film will open Dec. 18, with some theaters playing a seven-movie marathon event.
Alamo Drafthouse Omaha also plans to release ticket sales for more upcoming movies and announce its opening date in the next few days.
The Alamo is part of a chain of theaters, the first of which opened in Austin, Texas. Drafthouse theaters are known for their themed movie nights, unconventional genre film programming and strict no-talking and no-texting policies.
