Hundreds of film lovers dressed as Star Wars characters for the launch of Secret Cinema’s latest extravaganza, as fans declared: “It’s well worth the money.”

The Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back event is Secret Cinema’s most ambitious project but has come under fire for the £75-a-head ticket price.

Its first preview took place at an undisclosed location in London last night, ahead of the formal opening on Thursday. It will run until September 27.

Kristian Fryer-Kelsey, 26, told the Standard afterwards: “It’s got to be the best thing Secret Cinema yet. The sets are amazing. So are the actives. The scale of the thing is huge. Loads of people were saying it was the best as we were leaving. People won’t be disappointed. I’d say it’s worth the money for sure.”
