Star Wars is such a huge property, so it must be pretty nerve-wracking to take on even the smallest of roles in one of the films, let alone the leading star of the sequel trilogy.

Daisy Ridley has admitted that she really felt the pressure on her first few days on set, telling Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz about feeling imposter syndrome.

“It was pretty horrid,” the Rey actress said. “It was really scary. I felt just sick and I didn’t really know anyone yet, and it takes me a really long time to settle down with people.

“And I do remember being behind the speeder and there was loads of people there and somebody had an umbrella over me and even that… you’re like, ‘Oh someone’s holding an umbrella over you? OK’. And I remember thinking, ‘I can’t do it. Like, I can’t do this, this is not right’.

“Even my mum at the premiere of The Force Awakens went: ‘I mean… I’m nervous, but there must be a reason why they cast you’.

“Thanks mum. Yeah.”

Back in 2015, Ridley admitted that JJ Abrams told her on the first day of filming that her acting was ‘wooden’ which really stuck with her at first, but she states on the podcast that they really got to know each other’s style by the end of the project.

When asked if the title of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker referred to an organisation rather than one person, she didn’t give anything away, but indicated that it was a good theory.
