BB-8 Pumpkin

Via Techtimes.com:
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in 50 days but before that, Halloween! Can’t contain your excitement for the movie? Make your own BB-8 pumpkin in the meantime with help from Disney Family.

The activity is rated to take up 3 hours, but give yourself a little bit more leeway. After all, you want your BB-8 pumpkin to be perfect, right? As with any pumpkin-carving activity, you can do this with the kids, but make sure that all actual cutting and carving will be done by an adult.

To make a BB-8 pumpkin, you’ll need:

• 2 pumpkins (small and large)

• A pumpkin carving kit

• Painter’s tape (small, medium and large rolls)

• A paint brush

• Fine-grain sandpaper

• Acrylic paint (orange, black and white)

• A paint pen

• Rhinestones

• A small round object (like a styrofoam ball painted black)

• A large round object (like clear plastic ornament cut in half)

• 2 plastic coffee stirrers

• A ballpoint pen

• A translucent silver pen

To get started, trace a circle on top of the small pumpkin using the large painter’s tape roll. Carve out and remove this circle, cleaning out the pumpkin. With a smaller painter’s tape roll, trace two circles in front of the small pumpkin. These smaller circles should be carved out as well.

To prepare the pumpkins to be painted, lightly sand them. Clean the pumpkins and paint them white. While waiting for the pumpkins to dry, cut out the BB-8 template from Disney Family. Set the template in place with a T-pin and trace along with a ballpoint pen.
