“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” Traveling Exhibit

Via Dorksideoftheforce.com:

The STAR WARS Saga has transcended generations, in part because so much of this “galaxy far, far away” is firmly grounded in our very real past. Star Wars itself is a retelling of a tale as old as time: The Hero’s Journey. And Star Wars costumes and weapons all started with an earthly counterpart. Jedi robes are derived from traditional Samurai robes. A blaster is simply a German gun with extra pieces added on and painted to look like one piece. TIE Fighter helmets take their design from World War II Nazi pilot helmets. Even Princess Leia’s famous buns are a traditional German hairdo called Schneckenfrisur.

Each Star Wars costume has an intriguing story, and a new traveling exhibit is set to bring those stories to life. Starting out in Seattle at the EMP Museum on January 31, 2015, “Rebel, Jedi, Princess, Queen: STAR WARS And The Power Of Costume” will feature 60 screen-used costumes from the Original and Prequel Trilogy, as well as behind-the-scenes details of the creative process and the connection between character and costume. We can thank the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art for this informative exhibit.

My only question, when will it come to my side of the galaxy?? As of now there are no details as to where “STAR WARS And The Power Of Costume” will travel. But stay tuned here for the announcement!
