Return to Hoth?

On March 18, 2014 Lucasfilm release some long-awaited news about the upcoming “Star Wars” installment. They announced that principal photography on “Star Wars: Episode VII” will commence in May of 2014, in Pinewood Studios. In addition to the announcement of production starting, they laid out the time table for the next chapter of the Saga. “Star Wars: Episode VII” will be set about 30 years after the events of “Return of the Jedi.” It will “star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces,” according to the official Star Wars website.

While this was exciting news for the avid fans of the community, now even more news has been leaked. According to “Visir,” and Icelandic news site, the production crew will be heading to this Artic country before production begins in May. The site claims that Iceland will be used to shoot scenery shots, also known as “plate shots,” for the upcoming Star Wars film. This has led to speculation that we might be returning to Hoth for “Episode VII.”

The scenes from Hoth in “The Empire Strikes Back” were originally shot in Norway, but now it seems possible we might, if only briefly, see a return to the barren ice planet.
