Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, who reprises his iconic role of Luke Skywalker in the upcoming instalment of the space epic, recently admitted that he was a bit taken aback by the level of security that was necessary to prevent leaks while filming. Obviously Hamill did not face issues like footage or plot leaking on the internet way back in the 70s.
“Oh, my God! It’s just crazy town,” he told Hero Complex when asked to describe his first day back on set. “First of all, the security. We had problems before with people leaking stuff, but I was saying to them, ‘Is it really necessary to put on this giant robe with a hood that hangs down to your chest to go from my trailer to the soundstage?’ They said, “Drones.” I said, “You’re kidding! Really?”
The actor also went on to convey that fans need not be in a rush to know whatever they can about the eagerly-awaited film. As per Hamill, leaks and spoilers will only add to unrealistic expectations from the film and will eventually leave fans disappointed when they finally watch the movie.
“Believe me, it will be here before you know it. Forget about it, that’s my advice. Look forward to all the summer movies. I’m telling you, it’s just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed.”
Several fans are also excited about watching the original trilogy characters back together in the upcoming film, but Hamill teased that the film’s focus will be more on the new characters, “…it’s really about the new generation, it’s not about us.”
