Harrison Ford’s leather jacket from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is being auctioned off to raise money for epilepsy research.
He’s a Force for good.
“Star Wars” actor Harrison Ford is auctioning off the trademark leather jacket worn by his character Han Solo in “The Force Awakens” to raise money for epilepsy research.
The 73-year-old star told the Daily News’ Confidenti@l column earlier this month that his daughter Georgia, 26, suffers from the condition.
Ford has since donated the jacket to the If Only online marketplace, with proceeds benefitting New York University’s Langone Medical Center and the Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) organization.
Bidding for the keepsake has already begun and is already at $18,000.
“I’ve been very impressed with the work NYU and the FACES team have done in the field of epilepsy research, and I hope this jacket will provide some means to further that exploration,” Ford said in a statement.
“This is a cause that’s near and dear to me, and unlike the cynical Han Solo, I’ve got a good feeling about this,” he added.
Ford revealed earlier this month that his daughter was finally correctly diagnosed with epilepsy by NYU’s Dr. Orrin Devinsky after several other doctors were unable to figure out why she had experienced multiple seizures during her youth.
Ford says Devinsky was also the one prescribed the necessary medication and therapy treatments, and Georgia hasn’t suffered a seizure in eight years.
The auction for Ford’s “Star Wars” jacket ends on April 11.
