Disney Offering Partial Refunds For Too-Pricey Star Wars Robot

Via Orlandosentinel.com:

If you snatched up one of those BB-8 Star Wars robots during Disney’s recent “Force Friday” event, you may have paid too much. If so, you can get part of your money back.

The app-controlled robots sold for $199 at Downtown Disney’s Once Upon A Toy during a midnight promotional event earlier this month, but for $149 in other places including Disney Stores and Target. Disney has decided to issue refunds to people who bought the droids for $199.

A Disney spokeswoman did not have details about why the toy sold for more at Disney World initially.

BB-8 was unveiled Sept. 4 along with a slew of other new merchandise to promote the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” movie. Many stores had midnight openings to sell the toys.

The round, rolling toy resembles a small, high-tech snowman. It is a replica of BB-8, a droid character in “The Force Awakens.”
