Star Wars Rebels
Via Comicbook.com:
When we left off in Star Wars Rebels, Sabine had finally revealed her backstory to the crew, and had learned how to wield the darksaber. That ancient black lightsaber belonged to her ancestory, the first Mandalorian Jedi, and was a symbol of uniting power for the Mandalorian people for generations, and now it’s in the possession of Sabine Wren. In the return of the series this Saturday Februay 18 at 8:30 p.m. on Disney XD, Sabine takes the darksaber back to her people to recruit them to the Rebel cause. That means we’re going to Mandalore, right? Not so fast…
“We might be going somewhere unexpected,” actress Tiya Sircar, the voice of Sabine, teased to ComicBook.com. She was checking with Lucasfilm PR about whether it was too much of a tease, but after being assured she could say it, added, “Where we’re going might not be where you think we’re going.”
Fans were assuming that the crew of the Ghost was heading to Mandalore, the traditional seat of power of the Mandalorian people, but it sounds like we’ll be going to another one of their planets. That could have something to do with the devastating Imperial weapon that Sabine revealed she helped design, and was turned on her people. It’s interesting to see more of the former Mandalorian empire, one of the few individual cultures that’s not a crime family that actually expanded out into other planets and even systems. We’ve seen the decimated Concord Dawn, of course, and saw Mandalore and the moon Concordia on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. So is another location coming? It sure sounds like it.

How The New Star Wars Rebels Connected To Rogue One
Via Cinemablend.com:
Superhero franchises are typically the first thing that comes to mind when we bring up the topic of interconnected worlds, but Star Wars has gradually started to become one of the best cinematic universes in all of pop culture. As the silver screen Star Wars world continues to flesh itself out, its small screen counterpart has gone a long way towards providing backstory, as well as linking characters, locations, and ideas. Star Wars Rebels has done a phenomenal job with shouldering those responsibilities over the course of its run, and the most recent episode continued that tradition by linking the Death Star’s origins on Geonosis with the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
As recently pointed out by io9, the latest two-part episode of Star Wars Rebels directly tied into the narrative of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and provided some much-needed context regarding the development and secrecy of the Death Star. The episode (titled, “Ghosts of Geonosis”) explores the aftermath of the creation of the first Death Star, and the Empire’s distrust of the Geonosis population following its completion. As the story progresses, Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker) and his team of rebels learn that The Empire practically wiped out the Geonosian to maintain the integrity of its secrets.
The bulk of the story follows the heroes as they help a lone survivor of the Geonosian planet as he endeavors to safeguard an egg that could repopulate his race. The episode is chock full of amazing Star Wars Easter eggs, including a not so subtle hint at the Empire’s ultimate weapon, and helps inform the development of Gerrera into the man movie audiences meet during the events of Rogue One.
This episode will undoubtedly go down as a fundamental aspect of the Star Wars lore because of the way in which it fleshes out the creeping relevance and menace of the Death Star. There has been a significant gap in the Star Wars mythology ever since the release of Attack of the Clones because the exact fate of Geonosis has ever really received too much exploration. In this one episode, Star Wars Rebels can tie up some seriously loose plot threads left behind by the prequel trilogy while filling in the story leading up to the latest Star Wars movie.

Another Rogue One Character in Star Wars Rebels??
Via Themarysue.com:
We already know that we’ll be getting a ton more Saw Gerrera via Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels and that Forest Whitaker, who played him in Rogue One, will be voicing the character. It’s also quite possible that another rebel we got to know in Rogue One could be making their way to the small screen.
According to CBR.com, Pablo Hidalgo’s Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide links Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor to the Star Wars Rebels universe. In the book, it says that “one of Andor’s ‘operational aliases’ is listed as ‘FULCRUM,’ a ‘Recruitment agent in Albarrio sector.’ That codename has been used twice before on Rebels for secret informants; it was originally the codename of Ahsoka Tano and has since been taken on by Imperial Agent Kallus.”
Since Star Wars Rebels takes place five years before A New Hope while Rogue One comes right before it, we know that somewhere between Rebels Season Three and Rogue One, Cassian is supposed to end up with that code name. Meanwhile, the guide lists Cassian as 26 years old, and in the film, he talks about having been a rebel since he was 6 years old. So, Cassian was definitely an active rebel during Star Wars Rebels elsewhere in the galaxy.
What we don’t know for sure is whether that means Cassian will make an appearance on the show, or when, only that it’s totally possible. It would be pretty amazing to see more of pre-Jyn Erso Cassian in action, I’ve gotta say. And if they got Diego Luna to voice him? EEEK!
