‘Rebels Visual Guide’ Reveals Major Details About Upcoming Series

spoiler

Article contains possible spoilers for “Star Wars: Rebels”

Today, July 21st, marks the release of  DK Publishing’s highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide. We here at Yoda’s News just couldn’t stand to wait and were able to obtain an early copy, due to the gracious folks over at DK. Here is a quick summary by the publisher on what to expect in the visual guide for the upcoming TV show:

“Travel the galaxy far, far away and experience Star Wars® Rebels firsthand with the companion to the new Star Wars animated series, Star Wars® Rebels. Featuring key scenes and iconic moments, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the rebel legion. With tons of interesting facts and information about your favorite characters, weapons, vehicles, and locations from the new TV show, Star Wars® Rebels: The Visual Guide is the ultimate guide for the ultimate fan!”

The book promised to be full of information on Rebels and what our heroes will encounter in just a few short months. It went above and beyond, giving us an inside look at what is arguable the biggest project to come from Star Wars since Disney took over. A review for this type of book is somewhat tricky, as opposed to regular adult fiction.

The book opens with a forward by Dave FIloni. As many fans of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars know, Filoni has been apart of the community since 2007. He was the supervising director and the lead collaborator with George Lucas on The Clone Wars. When news of  Rebels was first disseminated, it came with the announcement that Filoni would be back as the executive producer for the series (alongside Greg Weisman and Simon Kinberg). The forward is a short, inspiration letter from Filoni that gives some emphasis as to what he loves about Star Wars. It is filled with passion and really lets you get Filoni’s perspective on the Star Wars universe. While not every fan might agree with how Filoni has portrayed certain aspects of The Clone Wars, you cant deny that he truly does love that galaxy far, far away.

Jason Isaacs to hunt down the Jedi, this fall

For months, actor Jason Isaacs has been rumored to be involved in the upcoming ‘Star Wars: Rebels.’ Today Isaacs (known for his work in ‘Awake,’ ‘The Patriot,’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series) was finally confirmed to be voicing The Inquisitor in the upcoming series. The Inquisitor will be the main antagonist for our heroes, as he does the Emperor’s bidding. Lucasfilm released an informative video that gives us our first real look at The Inquisitor via the official ‘Star Wars’ Youtube page. The Inquisitor, the video revealed, isn’t a Sith Lord like Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. Nevertheless he draws on the Dark Side of the Force, wields a red lightsaber, and hunts down the last remaining Jedi. Check out the full video below for more details.

What are your thoughts on the talented Jason Isaacs joining the ‘Star Wars’ franchise? Share your thoughts with us online and on Twitter. We can be found at @arybak89 (Alex Rybak) and at @yodasnews (official Yoda’s News account).

Boba Fett lives! Fett: 1 Sarlacc: 0

Boba Fett escapes his encounter with the Sarlacc Pit in ROTJ via Wookieepedia

Boba Fett has arguably been one of the most favorite characters of ‘Star Wars’ fans since he first appeared in the lackluster ‘Star Wars Holiday Special.’ Hardcore fans know that Fett’s journey didn’t end with him falling in the Sarlacc pit in ‘Return of the Jedi.’ He would go on to become an integral part of the ‘Star Wars’ expanded universe. While he has appeared in a plethora of material in the expanded universe, there was always a small hint of doubt that he actually lived on. ‘Star Wars’ used to be broken into different levels of canon, and Fett’s adventures after ‘Return of the Jedi’ were never set in stone. Then, earlier this year, the expanded universe rebooted and was labeled “Legends.” This set the hundreds of novels, comic books, and other materiel in an “alternate universe” of sorts; and sealed the fate of many beloved characters.

Flash forward to today. J.W. Rinzler, a ‘Star Wars’ historian and writer known for his many books that chronicle the history of the franchise, conducted an “Ask Me Anything” session on social media site, Reddit. Rinzler was asked point-blank whether Boba Fett survived his apparent demise in ‘Return of the Jedi.’ His reply brings hope to the ‘Star Wars’ universe. “Yes, he does,” Rinzler stated, “I have been in meetings with George where he confirms that Fett survived. If it comes from George then it’s true!”

First Look at Rebels Saga Legends 3 3/4″ Figures Carded and Loose

We have an exclusive first look at 12 new figures from the  Rebels Saga Legends line (we are told that is the official name of the line). Some non-rebels figures will not have the word “Rebels” under the Star Wars logo (like Luke, Jango, Obi Wan, Clone Trooper in the examples below) and will have a “from” on the bottom right indicating the movie  they are from.  Some seem to have both (like Vader), so we  will have to wait for SDCC when we can ask Hasbro exactly  how they decided the layouts for the cards or if these are clues to what classic characters will be in Rebels!

So get an actual LOOK (as opposed to some mass  distributed “special” list of names) of 12 new figures in  the Rebels Saga Legends line below!

UPDATE: By request we added High Res images of the Rebels figures at our Facebook Page

Lucasfilm’s special panel – The Heroes of Star Wars Rebels at SDCC

Lucasfilm’s special panel, The Heroes of Star Wars Rebels (Thursday, 7/24/14, 6:00pm – 7:00pm, Room: 6BCF), will feature executive producer Dave Filoni, as well as the first panel appearance by executive producer Simon Kinberg and stars Freddie Prinze, Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, and Taylor Gray. They’ll discuss making the show and will debut several exclusive reveals from the upcoming series for fans in attendance.

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Follow @StarWars and @DisneyChannelPR for the latest news on #StarWarsRebels. Stay tuned to www.StarWars.com for more on Star Wars Rebels at SDCC.

Hero Series Millennium Falcon High Resolution Images and More Info!

As promised in our article yesterday, here is a much better look at the Hero Series Millennium Falcon, as well as some highlights we gathered now that we could see all the fine print on the box. According to our sources it is will be coming in Fall of 2014  and will be exclusive to Wal-Marts stores, but that MAY change and it may also be offered in some capacity to other outlets. While it does have the Rebels colors and advertisement on the top right,  Star Wars Episode V is listed as the movie it is from.

The larger images also reveal that it will have a rotating radar dish and the cannon turns and elevates.  That is the only “action” this has. There is no way to open the cockpit or anything else.  No figures are included and there is no place for them to go even if they were.  This is geared at kids, like we were told about the  X-Wing at Toy Fair, but with the great detail on this piece (and if you look real close you can read it will include a sticker sheet) I can see collectors may want this if the price is right as a lightweight display piece.

Guessing price point may be between $35-$50. Check out the higher resolution image below (you will have to click the image to see it full size and possibly twice depending on your browser, they may also take some time to load)
