Forbes reveals Hasbro’s Hero Mashers Toys
Via Forbes.com:
At the core of any successful franchise is the ability to license toys and products based off a related piece of media, a business strategy famously highlighted by George Lucas in his dealings with 20th Century Fox over the first Star Wars film. Fox allowed Lucas to make his own licensing deals independent of the studio and when the movie was an unexpected hit, several of the following products would go down in collectable and toy history as nostalgic keepsakes forever-connected to the promise of play. The other end of the licensing spectrum is a property like the Transformers: little more than a concept for a robot-car that has proven a resilient toy line and given birth to four live action movies that have all together grossed well over a billion dollars.

STAR WARS CELEBRATION 2015’S OFFICIAL POSTER…AND ITS REBELS VARIANT SW.com EXCLUSIVE!
Via StarWars.com:
Star Wars posters are an art form unto themselves. For an artist to capture the essence of Star Wars on a poster — the feel and look of the films, the drama of the stories, Han Solo’s overall awesomeness — isn’t easy. To do it in concert with their own sensibilities is even harder. But Craig Drake‘s stunning new Star Wars Celebration poster, the official key art for April’s mega-event, appears effortless.

TARKINTOWN AND HOOVERVILLES
Via Starwars.com:
Long before he was blowing up planets as commander of the Death Star, Grand Moff Tarkin was known as the Imperial Governor of the Outer Rim. One of Tarkin’s legacies was the forced relocation of citizens on the planet Lothal, where displaced people took refuge in a slum they called “Tarkintown.” A nod to the historic “Hoovervilles” made famous during the Great Depression, this location in Star Wars Rebels draws inspiration from the economic difficulties of the 1930s: an event that led to World War II.
In Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, our heroes make a stop in a slum removed from the capital city of Lothal. There, they find hungry citizens displaced by the Empire who wanted their land. Left with almost nothing, the citizens of Tarkintown find temporary relief from the crew of the Ghost who share food stolen from the Imperials.

Yoda Returns for Star Wars Rebels
Via Seattlepi.com:
Arriving soon, a special guest will be. Star Wars Rebels, the new animated Disney XD series set in a galaxy far, far away, is about to become very strong with the Force when Jedi master Yoda makes his presence known.
Though Rebels takes place between the two Star Wars movie trilogies – a time when the few surviving Jedis are in hiding from the Empire – the 800-plus-year-old icon is drawn from hiding to offer counsel to fledgling Jedi knight Kanan and his new padawan, Ezra, on the remote planet of Lothal. The twist: He only “appears” as a disembodied voice.
But what a voice it is. Frank Oz, who famously starred as the Yoda (in puppet and computer-generated form) in five of the Star Wars films, returns to the franchise for this episode. “I felt personally to keep Yoda as this disembodied thing it would confuse the audience less,” says executive producer Dave Filoni, who also directed the installment. “I didn’t want you to think Yoda could be teleporting from planet to planet.”

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Raises The Bar For TV Action
Via Ew.com:
Action scenes have always been a big part of the Star Wars universe, and Star Wars Rebels isn’t just keeping the tradition alive. It’s pushing the envelope and delivering some of the best action on television.
Whether it’s on the silver screen, television or in video games, high-level action and fight scenes have always been prominent in the Star Wars story. From the attack on the Death Star in Episode IV to cinematics like this one for Star Wars: The Old Republic, the action drives the story as much as the story drives the action.
That’s a pretty big legacy to fulfill, but I think Rebels is up to the task. I’ve heard it said that the show may actually be a bit too violent, considering it’s made for kids, but I’m going to leave that decision up to parents and just share three instances that demonstrate why Star Wars Rebels is so compelling.
