NERDIST PRESENTS ARRESTED REBELLION

Via Nerdist.com:

Earlier this summer, Lucasfilm opted to replace directing duo Lord and Miller with Ron Howard for their developing Young Han Solo movie. We can speculate as to any number of reasons why Lord and Miller weren’t the right fit for the film, but it’s easy to see why Howard was chosen. Lucasfilm likely knew they could rest easy with an experienced, respected, and successful filmmaker taking the helm of its spaceship. But more important than any of that to us is what this unexpected union inspired here at Nerdist. Dare we say, its the very best way to incorporate Howard into the galaxy far, far away.

Narrator: “It isn’t.”

Nerdist Presents is proud to bring to you Arrested Rebellion, the Star Wars/Arrested Development crossover you didn’t even realize you needed, but now won’t be able to imagine what life was like before you had it.

Narrator: “You will.”

It’s hard out there for a space smuggler trying to run a business while navigating the dangerous world of the Empire. And that’s before trying to impress the girl of his dreams despite having to deal with her annoying brother and Sith Lord father. Fortunately for us it’s all a lot easier to follow–and a lot funnier–with Ron Howard’s omniscient Arrested Development narrator around to keep the characters honest.

Narrator: “For once, they were right.”

So sure, Lucasfilm might have wanted Howard because of his skills as a director, but wouldn’t it be better if they utilized his deadpan delivery as the world’s best narrator instead?

Narrator: “It certainly worked this time.”

Star Wars-Themed Maze

Via Telegraph.co.uk:

They are among the most recognisable figures from film, but here are Star Wars characters as you have never seen them before.

An a-maze-ing maize maze is causing much a-maze-ment in the Cambridgeshire countryside.

With 1.8 miles of pathways in a 12-acre field, the family attraction near March is the largest maize maze created by Skylark Maize to date.

From above, it depicts characters from a famous poster from the Star Wars series of films.

But how many of the characters can you identify?

‘Star Wars’-Themed Pregnancy Announcement

Via Today.com:

Ariel David Brenman is a huge “Star Wars” fan. His wife, Hannah Goodman Brenman, is less so — “to put it mildly,” Ariel told TODAY Parents.

But Hannah, 27, is a really good sport, and that’s why when the New York couple found out they were expecting their first baby and determined the due date would be in December — when “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is to also be released — they decided a “Star Wars”-themed pregnancy announcement was required.

“The week we found out Hannah was pregnant, I discovered the Kylo Ren helmet on clearance,” said Ariel, 30. “This seemed like a fun, silly way to break the news.”

The Brenmans had to buy the Han Solo and Princess Leia costumes from Etsy and Amazon, respectively, to complete their announcement theme. “We’re actually not huge on dressing up or buying costumes,” said Ariel, “So now that we have these at the ready, I have a feeling we won’t be dressing as anything else for a long, long time.”

Ariel’s brother posted a picture of the announcement on Reddit in the “Star Wars” Subreddit, where it went viral and garnered more than 18,000 points and 300 comments.

The reaction from friends and families has been similarly enthusiastic. “Our friends have been overwhelmingly supportive and have really enjoyed the announcement,” said Ariel. “Responses have ranged from ‘best announcement ever’ to ‘just, wow.’

“I think we nailed the heartwarmingly cringeworthy mark pretty well.”

Of course — spoiler alert — Han and Leia’s child grows up to kill his father. Here’s hoping the Brenmans’ little one will stick to the light side of the Force.

20 Ridiculous (??) Moments In Star Wars

Via Whatculture.com:

Extremely beloved though the Star Wars franchise is by viewers young and old, all but the most hardcore apologists have to admit that it’s had its share of bizarre, laughable and straight-up baffling moments.

Over the last four decades, George Lucas’ juggernaut sci-fi blockbuster franchise has alternately stoked the audience’s imagination and made them wonder quite what the Hell the guy’s smoking. For every “I am your father” moment, there’s a dreadful clunker of dialogue or a tone-deaf scene that just doesn’t play right.

Some of these moments, admittedly, are ridiculous for the better, leaning into the inherent absurdity of the space opera saga, and as such fans wouldn’t dare wish them gone. Others, more often than not from the prequels? Not so much.

For better or for worse, though, these moments are Star Wars, and it’s hard to get into a discussion about the franchise without at least a few of them coming up…
