STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2

Via Ign.com:

It’s that time of year again: E3 2017 is just on the horizon. From June 10-15, we’ll be covering the biggest games and hardware announcements of 2017 and beyond. While you can check out our continually-updated Games of E3 List, we’re now going to start diving deeper. Every day leading up to the show, we’ll be highlight the stuff we want to see and play at E3 2017.

Today’s game: Star Wars Battlefront 2.

When Did We Last See Battlefront 2?

Tucked between a new teaser for The Last Jedi and footage from the new season of Star Wars Rebels, EA’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 made its official debut at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Orlando. Although the new trailer was light on actual gameplay, it did give us a great idea of where in the massive Star Wars galaxy Battlefront 2 would visit (and return to) next.

Why We’re Hyped for Battlefront 2

While the last game focused mostly on original trilogy content (aside from a bit of Force Awakens and Rogue One DLC) Battlefront 2 spans the eras of nearly every Star Wars film, including the prequels. Sure, the prequels are divisive films to Star Wars fans, but characters like Darth Maul and planets like Mustafar are undeniably awesome places for a Star Wars game to take place.

However, the most exciting part of Battlefront 2 is that it will actually have a dedicated single player campaign and original story this time around. Oh, and you play as the Empire elite special forces soldier Iden Versio, tasked with cleaning up the mess after Return of the Jedi’s Battle of Endor. Not physically cleaning it up, of course. Dead ewoks probably smell horrible. But we’re excited to see Iden and the rest of her squad take on rebels and Jedi on her road to revenge.

Odds Battlefront 2 Will Be at E3

Never tell me the odds!

But seriously, nearly 100%.

Battlefront 2 is EA’s biggest game this fall and we haven’t seen nearly enough of it yet. At E3 2017, we expect EA to blow the blast doors off of Battlefront 2’s multiplayer modes, showing us exactly how new heroes like Rey and Kylo Ren will work in the grand scheme of the game. Battlefront 2 is apparently ditching the first game’s pricy, year long season pass of content drops, so we also hope to learn how EA plans to keep the game fun and exciting for months after it launches this November. And with Battlefront 2 releasing less than four weeks before Star Wars: Episode 8 hits theaters, it would be awesome to get a tease of some playable stuff from The Last Jedi. Fingers crossed for old man on the mountain Luke Skywalker or a fifty foot tall Supreme Leader Snoke hologram. Or Jar Jar. There was no way I was going to write this entire article without mentioning Jar Jar. I’m sorry.

EA Reveals More Info On ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’

Via Technologyinquirer.net:

The Star Wars franchise made a triumphant return in recent years, starting with the Force Awakens in 2015 and Rogue One last year.

The pop culture phenomenon was once again welcomed positively by the masses, and it comes as no surprise that a follow up of its video game adaptation, “Star Wars: Battlefront”, will soon be released as well.

Gaming titan EA, as per Business Insider, finally divulged details of the highly anticipated sequel, starting with the game’s new star—a heroine named Iden Versio.

According to EA, the intergalactic bad-ass chick will lead a special forces unit called the Inferno Squad, which started havoc in Endor when the second Death Star exploded.

Unlike its predecessor which focused mainly on multiplayer battles, “Battlefront II” will have a narrative-driven, single-player story campaign.

Aside from Iden, users will also be able control the franchise’s most familiar faces, including the likes of Anakin Skywalker and Kylo Ren.

Another facet of the upcoming game will be a much improved space battles feature, which will once again bring the multiplayer mode to new heights.

“Players can drop into the cockpit of the galaxy’s most iconic ships, weave between asteroid fields and fly through imperial dockyards in high stakes dogfights,” EA described the feature.

But perhaps its most endearing update will be a larger scale for online battles, which will now reportedly support 40 players at a time.

“Star Wars: Battlefront II” will be made available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and will hit gaming stores worldwide on November 17.

Star Wars Force Arena Introduces Four New Characters and Replay Feature

STAR WARS™: FORCE ARENA INTRODUCES FOUR NEW CHARACTERS AND REPLAY FEATURE

SEOUL, Korea – Apr. 5, 2017 -Netmarble Games Corp. ., the fastest-growing mobile game company in Asia, today announced a new update into Star Wars™: Force Arena featuring four new character cards, new features in Guild, Replays, and a newly balanced 2vs2 play.

With the update, four new characters from Rogue One: A Star Wars™ Story have been added into the game including the Imperial Death Trooper and the TX-225 Assault Tank from the Galactic Empire, and Keredian Partisans and Rebel Demolitionists from the Rebel Alliance. Death Troopers, who are the elite soldiers of Imperial Intelligence, were featured in the recent movie as bodyguards and enforcers for Director Krennic, and has been one of the fan favorites since.

Star Wars™: Force Arena is also introducing a new feature in the Guild System, strengthening the social aspect of the game. Guild members can now freely request and donate character cards to others in the same guild. Also, Guild members can take part in missions together and receive special card packs after completing each mission.

One of the biggest changes to the recent update is in the game’s balance, starting with the 2vs2 normal match. While players will continue to play for a better rank, tier, more credits and card packs in the 1vs1 ranked match, the 2vs2 normal match is now a non-ranked match, meaning that players can play the game more casually without affecting their rank or tier, but still receive credits and card packs after victory. Also, players now taking part in 2vs2 normal matches will each play with the same level deck, bringing a more balanced, fair matchup for each battle.

Replays are now available in Star Wars™: Force Arena, and players can view all matches they’ve played for the past three days. Also, players can view Top 20 matches based on stats including leader kills, squad kills, number of tower destructions, and number of comebacks wins. The Top20 match highlights will be renewed every 4 hours.

“We hope players have more fun and share great strategies with each other through newly introduced character card donations and Replays in Star Wars™: Force Arena,” said Seungwon Lee, Chief Marketing Officer of Netmarble Games. “Now players can enjoy 2vs2 in a fair environment without worrying about rank drop and also bring their best game with four new characters including the Death Trooper.”

Star Wars™: Force Arena boasts more than 80 playable in-game cards, including new faces from the recent movie release, Rogue One™: A Star Wars™ Story. Star Wars™: Force Arena is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. For more information on the game, visit the official website at www.StarWarsForceArena.com.

EA News: Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 Plans And More

Via Express.co.uk:

A new Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 trailer is expected to make its debut in the near future.

Senior Video & Media Director/Editor at DICE, Randy Evans has teased as much, confirming on Twitter recently that he is working on a big new project.

“Today we are off to do some mocap for a very big upcoming trailer. Luke Matthews seen here pondering the ways of the force,” he wrote.

If there was any need for further speculation over what the new project might be about, it appears Evans has offered enough information to point us in the right direction.

For those wondering when that new trailer may arrive, it’s a safe bet that the Star Wars celebrations in April will be the event.

While it’s certain that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be the main focus, EA are likely to follow up their success in 2013 by debuting their new trailer in the same way.

It was the event that saw the first Star Wars Battlefront remake trailer make its debut, and what with EA working closely with Disney to synchronise games with movie releases, we’re hoping to see another epic clip from the new title.

EA have already confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is coming later this year and will include a single-player campaign.

Skipping the solo and offline aspects of the originals was pointed out to be one of the biggest criticisms of the Battlefront remake by fans.

Battlefront – No More Skirmish Content

Via Gamespot.com:

DICE is not going to expand the Skirmish offerings.

Developer DICE is moving on from Star Wars: Battlefront to focus on the sequel, the studio said in a blog post this week. This is to be expected, given that game is coming out later this year–and it sounds pretty ambitious. It will feature content from multiple Star Wars eras and include a single-player campaign, among other new additions.

Also in the blog post, DICE confirmed there is “no future Skirmish content” planned for Battlefront. Released in July 2016, Skirmish lets you play the Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron modes offline, by yourself or with a friend via local split-screen. The rest of the sides are filled out with bots.

What this means is there won’t be Skirmish content available for Battlefront’s other modes and the maps they are associated with. That’s kind of a bummer, though people who want to play offline and in split-screen can still do so through the co-op missions, which can be a lot of fun.

Regarding Battlefront 2, or whatever EA decides to call the sequel, DICE said, “We look forward to sharing more with you later this year and thank you for being such a tremendous support of our work in a galaxy far, far away.”

The Battlefront sequel is due out this holiday, presumably for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. During an earnings call last night, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the game is even “bigger” than the 2015 original, featuring more locations and hero characters. It is being made by DICE, Motive Studios, and Criterion. We’ll report back with more details on Battlefront 2 as they become available.

The original Battlefront was a big hit, though some people lamented that it did not offer a very deep experience. It shipped 14 million copies.

Star Wars Battlefront Will Still Get Updates In 2017

Via itechpost.com:

A lot of people may be worried that Star Wars Battlefront will be deemed insignificant once. Star Wars Battlefront 2 comes out this year, but players don’t have to worry. News has it that the developers are still planning on bringing updates to the game in 2017.

According to iDigitalTimes, rumors have been coming up that the servers are going empty for Star Wars Battlefront and that the game has seen a significant drop in users ever since launch. EA’s community manager Matt Everett, however, has debunked those claims over at the Battlefront forums and he even gives an update on what improvements could be coming to the game in the future.

The last update for the game was supposedly the Scarif expansion, which brought players to the beach planet that was featured in “Rouge One: A Star Wars Story.” That DLC was released back in December, but since then, there have been reports on glitches in the game like hero upgrades not working, as well as other heroes becoming essentially invincible. Surely DICE will take time to work on those bugs. Maybe another “Rogue One” expansion featuring more playable heroes like Baze and Chirrut would be much appreciated?

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is said to focus more on the new trilogy that was introduced with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” back in 2015. With that game, players can expect to take control of characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver); it is even possible that an older Han Solo (Harrison Ford) could be playable. The current Battlefront is more focused on the world in the original trilogy, so even if Battlefront 2 does come out, the first Battlefront game will be the only modern game to have old stormtroopers, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett.

Star Wars Battlefront’s Rogue One: VR Mission Full Playthrough

Via Gameinformer.com:

Earlier this month, DICE teamed up with Criterion to release a free PlayStation VR X-Wing mission for PlayStation 4 owners of Star Wars: Battlefront, and we played through the whole thing.

It’s short, but undeniably cool. It begins with a close-up look at an AT-AT, followed by the opportunity to walk around your X-Wing, before placing you in the cockpit of an X-Wing to navigate an asteroid field and get into some dog fights. As with all things VR-related, it’s hard to show off how engaging it is without actually having the headset on your face. That being said, Andrew Reiner and I show off the full mission for a good taste of why this free download is worth strapping the headset on for. If nothing else, it makes us want a full-fledged VR X-Wing game.
