REMINDER – “STAR WARS FORCES OF DESTINY” TELEVISION SPECIAL DEBUT TOMORROW
Moments both big and small shape our heroes destinies in two half-hour “Star Wars Forces of Destiny” television specials on Disney Channel in October. The first half-hour special debuts SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) followed by the second on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel and the Disney Channel App. Featuring a total of eight never-before-seen installments, these specials showcase compilations of the popular animated shorts featuring Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and Padmé Amidala, as well as new episodes including Han Solo, Hera Syndulla, Finn, Maz Kanata and many others.

There’s still so much of Jyn Erso’s life before joining the Alliance to explore on screen, but Sunday’s installment in the Forces of Destiny micro-series gave us a glimpse at the reticent rebel’s life on her own. Rather than standing by while the Empire bullies a young girl and her pet, Jyn boldly gets the stormtroopers’ attention and leads them into a fight. Jyn and her new friend are outgunned, but they can outwit the Imperial’s elite soldiers by working together. Here are five highlights from the short, “The Stranger”

The Forces of Destiny micro-series has been filled with familiar faces and welcome reunions, and Saturday’s episode was no exception. In this Clone Wars-era installment, Ahsoka helps Padmé to prepare for a diplomatic dinner, but it soon becomes clear that although the outside is secure, there’s a traitor in their midst. The two heroes take quick action to neutralize the threat, working together to save the day in a powerful showing of teamwork and friendship.

After learning more about Rey and BB-8’s relationship earlier this week on Star Wars Forces of Destiny, Wednesday’s episode took a closer look at Leia Organa’s adventures on Endor. In this micro-adventure, Leia and Wicket save some of his friends from a pair of stormtroopers who have little respect for the primitive species that call the forest moon home. The short sheds some new light on how Leia earned the trust and friendship of the small furry bipeds, while reintroducing some favorite characters. TURNS OUT THE NIGHTWATCHER WORM WASN’T THE ONLY DESERT-DWELLER INTERESTED IN BB-8.
The micro adventures of Rey and BB-8 continue with the second installment of animated Star Wars shorts, Star Wars Force of Destiny. This time, our heroes are headed to Niima Outpost when they’re spotted by a band of thugs eyeing up the lost little droid. With cunning tactics, they elude capture…for now. Although fans who attended the “Heroines of Star Wars” panel at this year’s Star Wars Celebration will recognize this short as the sneak peek that was screened especially for the live audience in April, the story has added depth now that we’ve had a more formal introduction to the nightwatcher worm in episode one. And we just can’t get over how much these vignettes are adding to our understanding of Rey’s relationship with the petite astromech in The Force Awakens.
