‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Character Played by Clint Howard

Via Slashfilm.com:

Ron Howard grew up in show business. Not only was he a child star appearing in movies alongside his father Rance Howard, but he made a name for himself throughout his childhood, adolescence and early adult years as the co-star on shows like The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days, not to mention films like American Graffiti. Since then he’s gone on to become an acclaimed filmmaker nominated for countless awards.

A little lesser known is his brother Clint Howard. Though the younger son of the Howard family appeared alongside his brother and father in many productions, he never quite became a certified star. But that hasn’t stopped him from carving out a nice career as one of the most recognizable character actors in the business. Ron Howard has helped bolster that career by putting Clint Howard in 17 of the films he’s directed throughout his career, and he previously confirmed Solo: A Star Wars Story would be added to that list. Now we have our first look at Clint Howard in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Ron Howard Shares Look at Brother Clint in Solo: A Star Wars Story

Director Ron Howard has officially brought his younger brother with him to a galaxy far, far away.  While overseeing the final sound mix for the Han Solo origin film, Howard tweeted a behind-the-scenes pic of sibling and longtime collaborator Clint Howard in raw footage from the upcoming Star Wars movie with the younger Howard brother appearing as a ragged, unkempt figure in a currently unknown gritty location.

As with previous films in the ubiquitous science fiction franchise, the audio mix is being completed at Skywalker Sound, Lucasfilm’s in-house sound design and music recording division based out of Skywalker Ranch in California.

His performance in Solo marks Clint Howard’s 17th appearance in a theatrical film directed by his older brother having appeared in Ron Howard’s feature film directorial debut Grand Theft Auto. Since the 1977 movie, Clint has also collaborated with his brother in Apollo 13, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Frost/Nixon among many other productions.

His role in Solo also makes Clint Howard as one of few actors to work in both Star Wars and Star Trek first appearing as Balok in the original series’ episode The Corbomite Maneuver in 1966 while working as a child actor. Since then, Clint Howard has appeared on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, and this year’s Star Trek: Discovery.

New Tie Fighter In Solo: A Star Wars Story – New Information Revealed

Via Cinemablend.com:

The recent Star Wars timeline, so far, has been challenging to follow. Every time we reach the end of a Saga story — be it The Force Awakens, or The Last Jedi — we flash back to an earlier movie set between the Prequels and Star Wars: A New Hope, meaning fans have to establish their bearings, remember what they knew, and learn more stuff along the way. At the same time, whenever a new movie opens, we’re able to add to the Star Wars canon by introducing new aliens, droids, villains and ships. Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story introduces the new TIE Fighters shown above. They are known as TIE/rb, and Lucasfilm recently released more details on the ships, explaining:

Compensating for the relative fragility of the unshielded TIE starfighter is the armored TIE/rb, a reinforced heavy starfighter with much more powerful laser cannons.

Ships take a beating in the Star Wars universe. Most of the smaller TIE fighters and even Wing Fighters can be taken out in a single blast. And have you seen the multi-ship space battles that occupy almost every Star Wars movie to date? It’s virtually impossible NOT to get hit when engaging in an airstrike between the Rebel alliance and the First Order — or, in the case of Solo: A Star Wars Movie, the evil Empire.
