New York Comic Con Dates Announced

NYCC Fans,

It’s that time of the year again and we’ve got a few NYCC updates for you. (Nah, sorry, no dates for on-sale yet!)

First: We will be requiring Fan Verification again in order to buy a NYCC 2017 ticket or have one purchased for you. Fan Verification will open on April 19, 2017 for anyone who didn’t create a profile last year. Anyone who fills out a Fan Verification profile will have access to the limited quantity ticket on-sale at a later date. If you’re new to NYCC and have questions about this process or just need a refresher, check out our FAQs.

Second: Anyone who created a Fan Verification profile in 2016, your profiles will carry over in 2017. Hip-hip hooray! As an extra thank you, we’re giving fans with NYCC 2016 profiles first crack at a limited number of tickets with a special NYCC 2017 ticket presale. Only fans with NYCC 2016 Fan Verification profiles will be able to purchase tickets during the presale or have one purchased for and assigned to them. Quantities for the presale will be limited and if you’re unable to get the tickets you want, you’ll have another chance during the general on-sale happening at a later date.

Keep an eye on your inbox – our fam at ShowClix will be sending you a note (from donotreply@showclix.com) to either confirm that your 2016 details are correct or allow you to update them. This is important. If you don’t update or confirm your details, you could miss out on the presale. If you had a Fan Verification profile in 2016, but don’t receive that email by Tuesday, March 21, please email inquiry@nycomiccon.com with the email address you used last year to Fan Verify and our customer service superheroes can assist.

Third: We’re going to be real with you, this is a very bittersweet announcement – we are eliminating 3-Day and 4-Day tickets. We will only be selling single day Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Sunday Kids tickets to NYCC 2017.

You may or may not know that the Javits Center is going to be under construction. This means we’ll be working with some space limitations and we want to make sure as many people have the opportunity to buy a ticket and come to the show as possible. Selling only single day tickets will give more fans the chance to buy a ticket for at least a day to experience the fun of NYCC.

Fourth: We hear you and we want to make the ticket buying process as smooth as possible. This year, tickets will go on sale during the weekend. We polled our Facebook event and you answered saying Saturday and Sunday were the best days for us to launch tickets. We’ll do what we can to choose the most requested day and use the second choice as a backup. (And yes, we hear that you don’t like the virtual queue, but unfortunately it isn’t going away. Despite popular opinion, it keeps our website from crashing. We’re working with ShowClix to improve the queue.)

As always, thank you for your commitment and passion for NYCC. We’re looking forward to giving you even more amazing content across fantastic venues to experience with us. We can’t wait to reveal more of what we’ve been working on for you.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our team via email inquiry@nycomiccon.com or submit questions through our NYCC Facebook page (take a look at our timeline for the exact photo to comment with your questions). We’ll be hosting a Facebook Live Q&A with our team to answer your burning questions and provide any clarity around these changes and the upcoming on-sale. Our Facebook Live Q&A will be going live on Monday, March 20 at 3:30 PM EDT.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Sneak Peek At NYCC

Fans attending New York Comic Con on Thursday, October 8th will receive an exclusive sneak peek of what’s to come in the second season of Star Wars Rebels with a panel featuring special guests plus a preview screening of two new episodes from the series.

As the second season of Star Wars Rebels opens, the crew of the Ghost is now considered a very real threat to the Empire and has caught the attention of Darth Vader himself. Undeterred, the rebels seek out old friends and add powerful allies to their cause, forming the beginnings of a more formidable alliance against the Empire. To stop them, Vader will dispatch new agents to hunt down their growing coalition, determined to snuff them out before they can ignite a galaxy to rebellion.

The Star Wars Rebels panel will take place on the Empire Stage from 1:30-2:30 p.m. and will be followed by an exclusive screening of two new episodes later on the same stage, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. These all-new episodes will feature the series debut of Captain Rex, Captain Gregor and Commander Wolffe – three clones from the previous Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They join another fan favorite from The Clone Wars – Ahsoka Tano – who made her Star Wars Rebels debut in the final episode of season 1.

Star Wars Rebels returns with new episodes this fall on Disney XD.

NYCC 14: Cosplayers

We always like to post images of the great cosplayers we see at conventions and NYCC gave SDCC a run for its money this year as there was triple the amount of what was there last year. A big thanks to JC from Razor’s Edge Collectibles who was kind enough to shoot just some of the great cosplayers at NYCC the last 3 days. Enjoy almost 200 awesome images below (be sure to check out all 5 pages)

NYCC 14: Hasbro ‘Twas The Night Party Video and Ezra Saber Demo

It was a party, so the lighting, awesome DJ and party lights made it very hard to get a good video (as well as all the camera flashes from other media members) but we still wanted to share the experience of the best party at NYCC, The Hasbro ‘Twas the Night Before Party with our readers. See a quick demo of the REBELS EZRA BRIDGER LIGHTSABER BLASTER from Joe N. at Hasbro.  Joe was awesome to talk to all night and will be a welcome addition to the team!  Also a quick look  at the THE BLACK SERIES 6-Inch and 3.75 inch Action Figures,  REBELS Action Figures and more.  Please note the video is just for fun, to see the all the great figures and items, see our gallery here.

NYCC 2014: Questions You Have? Last Call!

On Wednesday night, 10/8/14, we will kick off our 2014 coverage of New York Comic Con with images and news from Hasbro’s ‘Twas The Night Before… Party and then kick off the official NYCC coverage Thursday at noon! We will also be spending some time behind the booth all weekend with longtime sponsor Razor’s Edge Collectibles who will be at Booth #2938 during the con. We may have a few YN 10 years prints and patches with us as well to give away if you spot any YN staffers at the booth!

We will be meeting with Hasbro, Dark Horse, Koto, Hallmark, Diamond Select Toys, Topps and many others on our trip and want to make sure we ask them what YOU want to know! Submit any questions you would like us to ask before 10/7 at 11pm EST and we will do our best to get you an answer. Email them to Yodasnews@gmail.com!  For the most up to date info, be sure to follow us on social media where we will be posting first, then  followed up with nightly reports here on the website.  Links to all our social pages can be found at the top right of this page!

Bandai Namco Unveiling A New Star Wars Arcade Machine Next Week During NYCC

Posted at Polygon.com:

Next week, New York Comic-Con kicks off, bringing with it a slew of internet famous and famous famous comic-book, video game, television and movie stars to The City.

But the thing that has me most excited is news that Bandai Namco will be unveiling a brand new arcade machine. That’s right, a video game developed to play on a singular coin-operated machine typically found in a public place. I was so surprised by this news that I emailed their public relations team to make sure I hadn’t misunderstood the email. On top of the fact that the publisher is rolling out an arcade machine in a time when arcades are most dead, this particular machine will be a brand new Star Wars title.

I couldn’t wrest any other details out of the publisher about this new Star Wars arcade machine so we’re going to have to be content with wild guesses until the unveiling on Oct. 8. If you want to be there with me when they show it off and give people a chance to play, make sure you check out our contest. (Update: PR reps for Bandai Namco have told us that there was some confusion on their end, and they’ll actually be limiting the unveiling to press only, so the contest appears to be off for the moment. Sorry, gang.)

Right, let the speculation begin.

At the top of my I-know-it-isn’t-happening-but-can-it-be-this-anyway list is a sequel to the classic, fantastic Star Wars pinball machine. Released in 1982 by DataEast and Sega, this is one of my top 10 or so pins.

Second on that list would have to be a remake of the 1983 vector-graphics classic: Star Wars. The Atari-published rail shooter is considered one of the top five most popular arcade games of all time.

OK, so my list is only two games long. There were other Star Wars arcade games, but I wasn’t a fan. Besides, the reality is that this machine will likely be something like a fighter or a casual game, both of which are fine, but also not those two games I just listed.
