Information Released For Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition’s Star Wars™: Twilight of the Republic Play Set

Disney Interactive today released new assets and information for Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic, one of the three Star Wars™ Play Sets to be released for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition this year. Developed by Ninja Theory, in partnership with Avalanche Software, the game is set to deliver an authentic family-friendly Star Wars game experience with enhanced combat system.

Set during the latter years of the Clone Wars, players will travel to four locations and explore open worlds of Tatooine and Coruscant, battle droids in Geonosis and partake in an epic boss battle in Naboo. Along the way, players will use the Force™ and master their Lightsaber™ skills as they fight alongside Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda to save the Republic and defeat the Separatists.

Each Jedi character is given specialized Force combat abilities and Force finishing moves, as well as unique Lightsaber forms with powerful combo attacks. As Jedi Master Yoda, for example, players will leap into action with his agile and acrobatic prowess. Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano uses her lightning-fast dual Lightsabers to carve up Battledroids, while Darth Maul uses his double-bladed Lightsaber and power in the dark side of the Force in a death-defying duel against the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set is included in the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack available this fall for $64.99, which also includes the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Base, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. The game is rated E10+ by the ESRB and will be available this fall.

Two additional Star Wars Play Sets will be available for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition this holiday, including Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition, players will be able to unlock the ability for all Star Wars characters to play inside all of the Star Wars Play Sets, as well as in the newly enhanced Toy Box, along with all characters previously released for Disney Infinity.

Disney Plans Marvel, Star Wars TV Channels

Via Hindustantimes.com:

Disney is reportedly mulling over the idea of TV channels dedicated entirely to Marvel and Star Wars.

According to Daily Finance, CEO Bob Iger revealed it during a conference call with investors when he was asked if the company planned to launch its own streaming service, reported Ace Showbiz.

“We have said that with these channels and these brands ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel, we do have an ability as a company to take product, specifically filmed entertainment, television, movies, directly to consumers,” he said.

Marvel superheroes are currently booming on the big and small screens. After rolling out Avengers: Age of Ultron, the company is prepping for Ant-Man on July 17 and filming Captain America: Civil War for 2016 release.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil are among the TV adaptations. Star Wars, meanwhile, is getting an overhaul on the silver screen with JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens due December 18.

A spin-off Rogue One is expected to follow in 2016 and Star Wars Episode VIII in 2017. Two more movies are also in the works. On TV, there is Star Wars Rebels.

10 Craziest Things That Have Happened Since Disney Bought Star Wars

Via Whatculture.com:

Disney paying a whopping $4 billion for Lucasfilm back in 2012 was an historic and shocking moment which changed the future of the Star Wars franchise forever (Indiana Jones too if those Chris Pratt reboot rumours are to be believed). There had been talk for years of a live-action TV series, but the possibility of there being more movies was always left up in the air.

The prequels had dulled the interest even the most hardcore fans had in more big screen Star Wars adventures anyway, and with superhero movies dominating cinemas, the space fantasy was in some ways forgotten. The franchise was still loved, but arguably no longer needed.

Disney’s announcement changed that though, and for the first time in a very long while, Star Wars fans had something to be excited about. It’s been less than three years since that game changing press release was sent out on October 30th, but a lot has happened since then. Some of these crazy occurrences would have once been thought to be an impossibility, while others were inevitable once Disney got their hands on the series.

Either way, you feel each of these following crazy developments is for the best; these are the guys who’ve greatly increased the stock of Marvel and Pixar. Still, some of these have to be seen to be believed…

Bid to Win A One-of-a-Kind Signed Star Wars Photo and Tour of Lucasfilm!

Adam Driver has Joined Forces with IfOnly to Benefit Arts in the Armed Forces with a Unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens Online Auction

Star Wars Fans Can Bid to Win A One-of-a-Kind Signed Photo and Behind-the-Scenes Tour at Lucasfilm

SAN FRANCISCO (February 26, 2015) – IfOnly, a marketplace for experiences that donates a portion of its proceeds to charities, has announced the launch of its partnership with Lucasfilm and actor Adam Driver with a chance to win a hand-signed photo by the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and a tour of the Lucasfilm campus in San Francisco.  The auction, which will benefit Adam Drivers’ cause Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF), is open for bidding today and will end on March 19, 2015. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18, 2015. www.ifonly.com/starwars

The signed photo includes faces and signatures from many of the cast members from the original films as well as the new members joining them in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The photo is only one part of the auction, however: the winning bidder will also receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the Lucasfilm campus at the Presidio in San Francisco.

The photo alone is a special collectable, but the signed version is invaluable to the “Star Wars” enthusiast. When the film was publicly announced, each cast member was given a copy of the first photo of them together, taken during one of their first table reads of the script. Adam asked each cast member to sign a copy and is auctioning it off to benefit Arts in the Armed Forces, an organization he co-founded that brings performing arts to the military free of charge.  Driver’s career prior to being cast in “Star Wars” doesn’t follow any of the typical Hollywood plotlines. His path took him through the military, to Juilliard, and then to a career in film and television. Passionate about helping those in the military, Adam uses his cause to bring performing arts to other service members.

“AITAF brings quality entertainment to veterans and those currently serving. We cultivate tonally eclectic, often hilarious content that focuses on the human challenges we all share. We recruit great actors to read it, and make it cost-free. Though AITAF offers an artistic experience that can’t immediately be quantified, the feeling after an AITAF performance is tangible, as we watch someone from the military ‘get’ that the act of self-expression is as powerful a tool as the rifle on their shoulder.” – Adam Driver, founder, Arts in the Armed Forces

The photo is signed by most of the cast, listed below.

Signatures include: Adam Driver, J. Abrams, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Lawrence Kasdan, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Kathleen Kennedy, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie

Option to add signatures from: Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Bryan Burk and Peter Mayhew
