Battlefront’s Latest Patch Adds A Film Grain Option And A New Map (correction)

Via Polygon.com:

The latest patch for Star Wars Battlefront delivers another much-needed nerf, another mission, adds a new map and lets you put a film grain filter on your screen.

The purely aesthetic option is there for those who want to, er, de-make? their Star Wars experience (in which Han always shoots first). It’s found in the video menu, and there’s a slider to adjust the amount of grain you desire.

The new map is “Twilight on Hoth,” which as the name suggests is the existing Hoth map set much later in the day. [Correction: It’s a 100 percent new map. We goofed this. So, totally new map!]

It’s harder to see enemies at longer distances than in the daytime Hoth maps. Twilight on Hoth is avaiable for seven game types: Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone, Heroes vs. Villains and good old Blast.

More importantly, the A-Wing is easier to shoot down. That little bastard’s hitbox has increased, and furthermore it will “properly take damage” if it smashes into an AT-ST with its shield active. There are tons of other updates, changes, nerfs and buffs (DICE reduced the homing shot’s lock time by 0.3 seconds — boo!) that you can check out in the official patch notes.

The changes are coming to all platforms: PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Notably, the free Battle of Jakku DLC that arrived in December is now patched into the game itself, so those who have it installed separately can delete that file to save a little hard drive space. Oh, and the Gonk Droid is now part of the attract mode cinematics.
