Live Coverage from Star Wars Weekends

Longtime YN reader Tim is covering Star Wars Weekends for us which kicked off today. One new thing for this year is that merchandise has been separated into two stores. One store is for limited edition and collectibles (Darth’s Mall X-Wing Collectibles). The other store is for general merchandise (Darth’s Mall Watto’s Grotto).  Check out the lines and the first batch of images in the gallery below.  Stay tuned for more pictures and information all weekend!

Hello Yodasnews.com, I am so very excited to be apart of the staff. I plan to bring lots of excitement to the Star Wars world. I have been a huge Star Wars fan for over 30 years now and Star Wars rules my life. I love everything Star Wars: the Original Trilogy, Prequels, Expanded Universe, Cartoons, Video Games, action figures clothes. There is nothing Star Wars I don’t like. This is a very exciting time for us as fans with the new Star Wars Trilogy, Rebels, Battle Front III and the newly announcement of Rouge One and I want to do all to bring you the information that you crave from movie news to the latest action figures and everything else Star Wars that we all love. I am a huge fan and this is a privilege and honor to be apart of this awesome team.

Could Star Wars: The Force Awakens Open to $500 Million?

As one executive puts it, if Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t score the biggest debut ever when it hits theaters Dec. 18, he’ll “run up and down Sunset Boulevard naked.” So how high could J.J. Abrams‘ reboot fly? The top U.S. opening is The Avengers, which launched to $207.4 million in May 2012 from 4,349 theaters. Disney’s sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1), could become the new champ, but many believe Force Awakens has every chance of outrunning them both, even with the distraction of Christmas. Globally it could rake in nearly $540 million, topping the three-day record set by the final Harry Potter film ($483.2 million). “If it pleases the fans of the old movies and also appeals to kids, watch out,” says box-office analyst Phil Contrino.

Disney CEO Bob Iger’s Wife Wore a Yoda Dress to the Oscars!

Bob Iger and his wife Willow Bay walk the red carpet at the 2015 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood. The 64-year-old businessman is the CEO and current chairman of The Walt Disney Company, which recently acquired the Star Wars franchise. Naturally, Willow celebrated this feat for Disney and wore a totally awesome Yoda dress to the awards ceremony!

LEGOLAND OFFERS SNEAK PEAK OF NEW LEGO STAR WARS MINILAND DEATH STAR MODEL

The LEGO® Star WarsTM Miniland Death Star Model Display has arrived to LEGOLAND® California Resort! The planet shaped LEGO® model, made out of more than a half million LEGO bricks, stands 13-feet high, 8-feet wide and weighs more than 1900 pounds. The LEGO Death Star is the largest LEGO model to be added to LEGO® Star WarsTM Miniland and opens to guests on March 5.

Under the watchful eye of R2-D2, a team of builders used a fork lift to maneuver the massive LEGO model into position high above LEGO Star WarsTM Miniland, which opened to guests in 2011. The LEGO Death Star is designed from the version featured in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The new model display also features the famous trench run scene where Luke Skywalker maneuvered his X-wing fighter through the combat zone to destroy the Death Star.

Below the LEGO Death Star, guests are invited to use their imaginations to construct their own LEGO starships at building stations, while LEGO X-Wings, Tie Fighters and Y-Wings circle overhead. The unveiling of the new LEGO Death Star on March 5 kicks-off the fan favorite, LEGO Star WarsTM Days event on March 7 and 8, where guests can spend the day participating in Star WarsTM related activities.
