Han Solo was never crazy about the Ewoks. It turns out that Harrison Ford still doesn’t like them much either.
Ford’s hatred for the furry residents of Endor’s forest moon has been well-documented, but you’d think his heart would have softened to the cuddly Ewoks over the decades, right? Wrong!
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (May 10), Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Alden Ehrenreich chatted about meeting with his predecessor and confirmed that Ford still holds one very specific grudge.
“He still doesn’t like the Ewoks,” Alden shrugged. “I think that’s a big thing for him. He hates Ewoks. It’s like [toy store] FAO Schwartz [to him], he didn’t like them.”
Ehrenreich also chatted with Kimmel about the experience of briefly meeting with Ford ahead of making the Han Solo prequel film.
“I didn’t feel right to do it without meeting him,” the young actor explained. “Originally, it was going to be me, and the directors, and the head of the studio and, then, [with scheduling], it was just me!
“I met him in his aeroplane hanger with five aeroplanes surrounding us, and then we went out to lunch. He was awesome… He said, ‘If anyone asks, tell them I told you everything you need to know and that you’re not allowed to say anything!'”
Despite Ford’s bravado, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and director Ron Howard have previously said that the actor became an informal advisor for Solo: A Star Wars Story during blips in filming.
