Star Wars Stormtrooper Charity Walker

Scott Loxley, who is walking around Australia in a Star Wars costume, happily admitted the croc would win after coming face to face with ‘Chopper’ at Darwin’s Crocosaurus Cove on Tuesday.

After facing the 5.5-metre beast with only a sheet of perspex to save him, Mr Loxley said he was hoping the stunt would help draw attention to his charity cause.

Mr Loxley, 47, is at what he calls the halfway point of a 15,000-kilometre trek around Australia to raise money for the Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

He started in Melbourne in November last year.

“I really should be doing this in a T-shirt and shorts,” he said, extremely happy to get off the highway in the punishingly hot and humid weather of the Top End build-up season.

The former Army soldier had always wanted to see more of Australia.

He approached the hospital with the idea for a fundraising walk – and was asked if he would go the extra mile and wear a costume.

“They told me the kids’ favourite movie was Star Wars. Would I do it in stormtrooper armour?”
