Disneyland’s Star Wars Land Is Underway, What About Disney World’s?

Via Orlandoweekly.com:

Out in California, Disneyland’s Star Wars land is well underway while the one here has yet to even have its official location confirmed.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is hinging a large part of its future success on Star Wars land and we can look at what Disney has revealed, mixed with the Anaheim plans to draw a loose idea of what we’ll be receiving here in Orlando.

The latest Anaheim renderings show two, possibly three, entrances into the land. Low bridges stretch overhead the entrances, similar to the bridges in Islands of Adventure’s Port of Entry.

The low hanging areas over guest walkways help block any vistas that the land may feature. This trick is part of the “wow factor” used to well in Diagon Alley.

Open-aired areas have themed shade clothes. Overall, the design looks to have numerous market-style retail areas. The Disneyland plans also show large pedestrian plazas in front of what looks to be the entrances of the two major attractions of the land.

Faux rockwork, stucco alien dessert looking buildings and various spaceships give the land a unique Wild West meets Xandu look. Unlike Harry Potter at Universal, Star Wars land won’t be a mashup of popular locations, but instead will be a uniquely new “planet” that the various stars of the films will be visiting. Both rides, dining areas and meet-and-greets will feature Star Wars-themed characters and interactive experiences.

The new land is expected to have multiple new food and beverage items that will be highly themed similar to the various items offered in Universal’s Diagon Alley. Unlike Diagon, the new Star Wars land does look to have multi-story guest areas, at least in some parts.

Right now we still don’t know a lot about what Star Wars will feature here in Orlando, but if Anaheim’s is any indication we’re in for what will easily be one of the most highly themed areas of any local theme park.
