Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew, who plays Chewbacca in the blockbuster saga, invited the widow of late fan Daniel Fleetwood to his home.

Ashley Fleetwood was granted a visit to Mayhew’s farm in Texas, which includes a “Chewie museum”.

Daniel, who was terminally ill and passed away last month aged 32, was granted an early screening of new film The Force Awakens after a social media campaign went viral.

The visit to the Mayhew home was arranged through fan club The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion, who also came along.

“The Mayhews were so kind and gracious,” Ashley Fleetwood told Entertainment Tonight.

“When Daniel was sick, they actually Skyped him. It was so sweet and amazing. They invited us to visit, but he was unable to travel.

“After he passed, they extended the invitation again. So I asked if, for my dad’s 60th birthday, if we could maybe visit. They said ‘yes’ and were so welcoming. “

Ashley posted about the trip on Facebook, saying that the Mayhews were “so welcoming and kind”.
