The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is rumored to debut on Monday, Oct. 19. Even cooler is that the trailer might first be shown during the ESPN broadcast of the Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Nothing is official yet, but here is what MakingStarWars.net is reporting:
It is indeed true that Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will be released on Monday the 19th. The announcement should come about twelve hours or so before the airing (these things tend to fluctuate). We believe the trailer will appear with a football game that evening, but that bit is only semi-confirmed (although most likely dead on). I wish I had better sources on the sports scene but it isn’t my thing. We assume the trailer will be posted online moments after it is on television.
Interestingly enough, a user on Reddit named “DatESPNGUY” posted the following on r/Eagles:
This Monday Disney is releasing the full trailer for The Force Awakens after the first quarter of your game. The whole night from graphics and scoreboard are Star Wars themed. The intro to the game gets an opening crawl detailing your hated rivalry.
Seriously it’s the coolest thing Monday Night Football has ever done.
Oh and one more thing.
The trailer will play on the screen at Lincoln Financial so that those in attendance don’t miss out!
Again … this is far from official. It does make some sense, however. Disney owns Lucasfilm and ESPN. But for now, take it with a grain of salt.
Huge division game, all black jerseys, and now a potential debut of the new Star Wars trailer … there’s no reason NOT to be watching the Eagles play this week.
