A STAR Wars fanatic has spent two years perfecting the ultimate piece of memorabilia to pay homage to the science fiction movie series – a life-size C-3PO costume.
Paul Wadley waited for around a year for the hand-made costume of humanoid robot C-3PO to be crafted and shipped from a specialist in America, then spent a further two years modifying and altering parts of it to make it even more realistic and to ensure he was able to walk round in it.
Mr Wadley, who even had to lose a stone to fit in to the finished suit, has already been causing a stir among fans of the Star Wars franchise and he is now getting ready to give it its first public outing in Ashbourne on Saturday.
He will don the £4,000 costume and plod around Victoria Square from around midday to help his wife, Sonja Riley, officially open her new barber’s shop in the town.
